Shira's Ultrasonic Fog Generators (UFG) use ultrasonic technology to produce a fog composed of 5 micron and less sized water particles, thus avoiding the damaging phenomenon of "free water" drops as is the case in other technologies. The water particle size is a critical parameter in most agricultural applications since the presence of "free water" drops are often extremely injurious to agriculture products, small newborn animals in breeding applications and to electronics manufacturing industries, as well as when disinfection and sanitizing is undertaken using chemicals.

The Shira FOG ("DRY FOG") behaves as a fluid in gaseous phase which is capable of deep penetration of minute spaces. This eliminates the free water which contributes to contamination, disease and pollution in industrial agriculture applications of solutions using traditional methods. The Shira FOGGING machine is a low-maintenance combination of solid state electronics and modular construction of few moving parts, with no small apertures or pressure requirements. Shira's UFG is easy to install and use, requiring no pressure or filtration facilities, or water softeners. By adding easily soluble substances to the water, the user can carry out chemical or nutrient treatments which help to provide an improved product.

More reasons to consider this new ultrasonic fogging approach, is to combat whiteflies and other soft-bodied insect pests in the greenhouse industry which has been tested and proved by USDA researchers, as well as problems that we can solve that have not been resolved by traditional aeroponics methods, such as spraying nutrient directly on to very massive root systems within a chamber.
